Projecting the tour on Germany as a whole it starts to look substantial. Something between one third and one quarter of Germany did we walk through.

As a matter of course we did not walk rectilineal from Göttingen to Bickenbach. That would not even be possible. Our path was much longer and adjusted to the fact, that we did not want to walk trough big cities. Nevertheless we had to find a village every 20-30 kilometre, so we could sleep somewhere. We were in fact backpackers, but camping in a tent was (and is) not really my cup of tea. Our actual path from Göttingen to Bickenbach rather looked like the picture below:
